Here are some of our favorite bourbon caramel recipes, just in time for fall!
Bourbon Caramel Sauce
INGREDIENTS
1 cup sugar
¼ cup water
½ cup heavy cream
pinch of salt
1 tablespoon bourbon
DIRECTIONS
Simmer together 1 cup sugar and ¼ cup water on medium heat for about 15 minutes or until it turns a deep amber color. Watch closely as not to let it burn.
Turn off burner and remove from heat and slowly add ½ cup heavy cream while stirring. Add pinch of salt and 1 tablespoon of favorite bourbon. We recommend Woodford Reserve or Old Forrester. Stir together for another minute. Let cool slightly and then pour into heat safe bottle or dish. Store covered in refrigerator. Bring to room temp or heat in warm water bath before serving.
