For those of us that grew up in Bourbon country, the idea of trying Scotch can be intimidating Although distilled and aged using a fundamentally similar process, key and sometimes tiny differences in ingredients and production give each whisky a unique and distinctive style and signature.

Just like the varying regions of California produces different profiles for wine, Scotland’s whisky regions produce distinct qualities and flavors. Each whisky has its own personality and characteristics that come from their location, climate and hundreds of years of history and tradition. Diageo’s Scotch collection ranges from the precious legacy of distilleries and operating sites all over Scotland, to the global icon of Johnnie Walker – the world’s number one selling Blended Scotch Whisky.

This was a fantastic food pairing/tasting held by Southern Wine and Spirits Representative, Sydney Cline. The food pairings ranged anywhere from dark chocolate to smoked salmon and fresh mozzarella exquisitely paired by whisky expert, Chris Zaborowski.
