Our very own Whisky Chicks founder, Linda Ruffenach, led a 2 hour course on the Art of the Julep last week in Bardstown, Kentucky (the bourbon capital of the world). This class was a part of the Bourbon Cocktail Mixology series at the Kentucky Bourbon Festival. Linda explained the history of the Kentucky Derby’s official drink and taught the group how to make a traditional Mint Julep, as well as Bucket Juleps and a Blackberry Basil Julep. She brought Helen Roberts with her, a Whisky Chicks member who is almost 96 years old and who has been making her famous Bucket Juleps since 1972. This class proved that there is more than one way to enjoy a Julep and encouraged everyone to enjoy bourbon the way they want!
