It was five years ago when we started our journey to bourbon enlightenment and it is amazing to see how far we have come. The purpose was to make learning about whisky\, especially Kentucky bourbon whisky\, approachable and fun. It has evolved to be an avenue for empowerment and inclusion through common interests and shared experiences. We believe that anyone that is 21 years or older can become a Bourbon Badass. \nIn celebration of the 5-year anniversary and International Women’s Day\, the Whisky Chicks are partnering with Gentleman’s Jack and Brown Forman to host our very first cocktail competition. Five bartenders\, from all different backgrounds\, are invited to share their stories and their passion for amber spirits. Each will put together a signature cocktail that embraces what it means to be a Whisky Chick and a Bourbon Badass. \nA select group of judges will come together to sample and compare the different concoctions with a winner being named at the end of the evening. The winning bartender will be recognized as an official Bourbon Badass and take home a Bourbon Badass barrel head\, receive a complimentary one-year Bourbon Badass membership to the Whisky Chicks\, bragging rights including the right to promote the winning cocktail as the official 2019 Whisky Chicks Cocktail. Oh yeah\, there is also a $200 cash prize for the winner. \nThe celebration will take place on Wednesday\, March 6\, 2019 at the amazing Aloft Hotel on Main Street in Downtown Louisville. The festivities officially begin at 6:30PM and will go until 8:30PM. Tickets for the event are $20 for members and $25 for non-members. Admission will include light appetizers\, sample cocktails featuring Gentleman’s Jack prepared by the participating bartenders and of course a few surprises along the way.  Whisky Dudes are welcome. \nDue to the limited # of tickets we do not offer refunds. Angel’s Envy is a hand crafted\, small batch whiskey produced by Louisville Distilling Company\, a subsidiary of Bacardi Limited. \nThe evening will begin with an opportunity to browse the Angel’s Envy brand store before beginning a 30-minute tour of the distillery led by Wes Henderson and his son Kyle. Wes is the Co-Founder and Chief Innovation Officer of Angel’s Envy and Kyle works as the Processing and Bottling Manager. After the tour\, Wes will lead guests through a 3-part tasting in the finishing room. \nShortly after\, everyone will make their way to the outdoor tent where they will learn to be their own bartender! This wonderful\, hands-on seasonal cocktail course is inspired by the seasons\, teaching you how to mix your cocktail to perfection using local flavors and ingredients. We’ll also discuss the science behind these various flavors and how different mixing techniques can affect the cocktail. DESCRIPTION:The Whisky Chicks are taking a trip to Kentucky’s capital for a progressive tasting and tour at Buffalo Trace Distillery. \nOn Thursday\, November 8th from 6:30-9pm guests will enjoy a private tour of the Buffalo Trace campus in Frankfort\, including the new Bourbon Pompeii attraction. \nThe evening will begin with a welcoming cocktail in the Visitors’ Center before heading to Warehouse C where all the Taylor products are stored and aged. Following this short walking tour\, we will take an in-depth look at Bourbon Pompeii\, nicknamed after the excavated ruins of Col. E.H. Taylor’s late 1800s operation. After learning the history of this miraculous discovery\, we will make our way to the Old Taylor House where we will be lead through a guided tasting of Buffalo Trace Distillery bourbons. \nThe night will end at the Clubhouse with cocktails and appetizers. \nEarly Bird tickets are $30 per person. After Monday\, October 16th\, tickets will be $35 per person.  \n**Guests will provide their own transportation to and from the event.**
