SUMMARY:Kentucky Peerless Barrel Selection
DESCRIPTION:Whisky Chicks joined Master Distiller Caleb Kilburn on a journey through the process\, sharing samples from up to 4 different hand selected single barrels. From the delicious welcome cocktail and gathering space to Corky’s informative and special sharing of the family and brand history – so interesting! John Waddell took us through the processes and a walk through behind the scenes\, especially enjoyed as this was the first visit of the majority of the guests. The decadently delicious charcuterie and dessert trays were very appreciated. \nWe put our palates to work to select the Whisky Chicks favorite barrel pick #2 which exemplified the best features of the barrel: “Butter & Spice\, 2nd on ice with toasted sugar and citrus spice.” From there\, the selection was added to the visitor center’s curated collection.

DESCRIPTION:Another Big Bourbon Adventure!\nJoin us for a roadtrip to Castle & Key in Frankfort\, the former Old Taylor Distillery site dating back to the late 1800s. \nThe day will begin by meeting up at the Paddock Shops in Louisville near Drakes. We will start our morning off with coffee and a light snack. We will then travel together by bus to the distillery\, leaving promptly at 8AM. Upon arrival at Castle & Key we will be welcomed with signature cocktails in the Shooking. Marianne Barnes Eaves\, Master Distiller and female trailblazer\, will lead guests through history and a neat tasting of Castle & Key gin and vodka. \nGuests will enjoy a 1.5 hour tour of the 113 acre property\, including the iconic Castle\, Springhouse\, warehouses\, and gardens\, learning about their restoration\, principled distilling process and daring vision. Guests will conclude the experience in the gift shop and have the opportunity to browse around and purchase merchandise and spirits. \n***The experience will be predominantly outside\, exploring areas of various terrain. No\, we are not talking about a night of boilermakers. Instead\, we will venture into the world of craft brewing and experience how used bourbon barrels have influenced the beer industry. We will continue our journey by exploring the newest trend of using beer barrels as a secondary form of aging bourbon. By blending the two art forms\, craft brands are creating gateways for experiencing both. \nThe evening will follow the hedonistic tasting style that only Chris Zaborowski and his team at Westport Whiskey and Wine can deliver. There will be small bites to share that go great with all available tastings. \nTickets for this event are $28 for members and $35 for non-members – includes beer & bourbon tastings and small bites. \nDue to the limited number of tickets available (25) we are unable to offer refunds. DESCRIPTION:She’s Raising the Bar!\nLibation liberators. Whisky educators. Friendship facilitators. \nThat is the Whisky Chicks mantra. It was five years ago when we started our journey to bourbon enlightenment and it is amazing to see how far we have come. The purpose was to make learning about whisky\, especially Kentucky bourbon whisky\, approachable and fun. It has evolved to be an avenue for empowerment and inclusion through common interests and shared experiences. We believe that anyone that is 21 years or older can become a Bourbon Badass. \nIn celebration of the 5-year anniversary and International Women’s Day\, the Whisky Chicks are partnering with Gentleman’s Jack and Brown Forman to host our very first cocktail competition. Five bartenders\, from all different backgrounds\, are invited to share their stories and their passion for amber spirits. Each will put together a signature cocktail that embraces what it means to be a Whisky Chick and a Bourbon Badass. \nA select group of judges will come together to sample and compare the different concoctions with a winner being named at the end of the evening. The winning bartender will be recognized as an official Bourbon Badass and take home a Bourbon Badass barrel head\, receive a complimentary one-year Bourbon Badass membership to the Whisky Chicks\, bragging rights including the right to promote the winning cocktail as the official 2019 Whisky Chicks Cocktail. Oh yeah\, there is also a $200 cash prize for the winner. \nThe celebration will take place on Wednesday\, March 6\, 2019 at the amazing Aloft Hotel on Main Street in Downtown Louisville. The festivities officially begin at 6:30PM and will go until 8:30PM. Tickets for the event are $20 for members and $25 for non-members. Admission will include light appetizers\, sample cocktails featuring Gentleman’s Jack prepared by the participating bartenders and of course a few surprises along the way.  Whisky Dudes are welcome. \nDue to the limited # of tickets we do not offer refunds.
